Seeing wrong characters?

There are four common causes: file encoding, a font without the glyph, hard audio and bad line breaks. If your SRT already shows é or boxes, the free encoding fixer repairs it in your browser.

Portuguese is our main focus. For Spanish, French and German the encoding is handled the same way, but review names and terms.

Privacy

The video stays on your device. The audio is processed on our own server.

Frequently asked questions

Why do my captions show é?

The file is UTF-8 and the program reads it as Windows-1252. Opening and saving it as UTF-8 fixes it.

Can I import the SRT on my phone?

Not directly, according to CapCut's help center. Import on desktop or web, then open the project on your phone through cloud sync.

Which languages work?

The spoken language is detected automatically. Portuguese is our main focus, so review the result in other languages.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Only the audio is sent.

Is it free?

You get 10 free minutes at sign-up.
